With America becoming more and more obese, Cathy and I got to thinking...we don't want to end up obese and we don't want Rebecca to be obese either (Although it seems like the trendy thing to do). So we purchased a Wii Fit.
If you do not know what the Wii Fit is, here's a little back info for you. In 2006, the Nintendo company came out with the Nintendo Wii, an intuitive gaming console that was designed to get the gamer off the couch and involved in the game.
The Wii is not operated by your standard game controller. Instead it's a remote with an attachment called the "Nunchuck" which plugs into the "Wiimote". It's operated by an infra-red laser that allows you to point at the screen with accuracy. Anyways, last week (5/19 to be exact) Nintendo took the Wii one step further into the future.
The Wii fit is designed to make exercising and working out fun. It comes with a what's called the Wii Balance Board which is like a very high tech scale. It calculates your BMI (Body Mass Index) and weight. It then calculates a work out regime for you which involves Cardio exercises, Yoga, Aerobics, Balance games which work on your center of balance and posture. It also has jogging and running where you can interact like you were actually running through a park, etc;.
Well, needless to say this was a huge hit when it came out last week, so much in fact that it was sold virtually in every store here in Gainesville that was carrying it. So, after needless searching and searching for two to three days I decided to try my luck on Ebay. Now, mind you, this retails at $90.00 in store. Well, I found one last week for $100.00 which included shipping so it was basically the same price. I bid on it and I won it.
Today I received my Wii Fit and I was kindof giddy. I mean, I like video games just as much as the next 21 year old but this was different. It was excited to see just how this new invention would work and how it would change my perspective of the video game world. It succeeded and then some. Cathy and I worked out for about an hour tonight and were both exhausted afterwards.
I highly recommend everyone run out and support our Japanese brethren and buy a Wii and Wii Fit....now.
